BLOOMINGTON (WEEK) — High blood pressure is known as the heart’s silent killer so to educate the public OSF St. Joseph gave people a chance to be one-on-one with doctors to learn how to practice good heart health.

Called “Talk with Doc” the event is all about making sure people live healthy lives by making decisions that will impact their health positively.

“Physical activity, making sure that we’re safely exercising, eating a healthy meal and having a healthy nutrition plan,” OSF Manager for the Center of Healthy Lifestyles said.

“We always and forever want to take care of our patients and serve with the greatest care and love. one way to do that is to help people identify their risk of having heart disease and those diseases associated with it.”

Participants were encouraged to walk several laps around the track with incentives like prizes given out to get them motivated to start their own health journey.

“Being heart-healthy and exercising can be just as simple as walking on the track. We’re always talking about heart-healthy things like diet and exercise and routine screenings with physicians to make sure that blood pressures are not too high,” Primary Care Physician David Jones said.
