Real Madrid Aren’t neglecting anything
In the face of the difficulties posed by the coronavirus, Real Madrid‘s players have continued to work at home to maintain their shape.
As of Monday, no player has shown symptoms of the virus and they are all in close contact with the club in order to stick to their physical preparation, their dietary needs and, if necessary, psychological care as well.
The physical coaches have taken the reins of the day to day work during quarantine, rather than Zinedine Zidane it is Gregory Dupont in charge.
The objective is for the players to stay as close as possible to their peak level of fitness during the indefinite break, but there’s an awareness that staying at 100 percent will be impossible.
Dupont is updating the plan regularly and adapting things to each individual in the squad.
“You have to live as though you’re in Valdebebas,” the coach told the players.
For now, the club are happy with the response from the squad.
Dupont is also in charge of the players’ personalised food plans to ensure the correct intake of protein, vitamins and calories is met.
All of the players have body fat metres at home that they use periodically to inform the club of their shape.
Players haven’t been asked to report their weight, but they’ve been trusted to follow the diet set out for them and they’ll be put on the scales as soon as they return.
The club have made a team of psychologists available to their players to help with the emotional challenges of this period.
No player has used the service yet, but the club are keen to protect the players’ mental health.
