Welper said taking your health into your own hands starts at the grocery list. She says it’s all about setting yourself up for success by first purchasing the right items.
“Junk food obviously can’t be on it. We don’t need chips, we don’t need candy, we don’t need those things. Those are not essential – we’re all very aware of what an essential is now. I think it’s a big part of creating a healthy environment for yourself and your family,” Welper said.
When making healthy choices, accessibility is key.
“Don’t go crazy, don’t overbuy the produce, maybe buy three to four fruits and vegetables. Have some variety, don’t feel like you need to buy the whole grocery store, but make it realistic for you and then eat them,” said Welper.
