FRANKFORT, Ky. (LEX 18) — During his Monday press conference, Gov. Andy Beshear annoucned that 1,455 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Kentucky. After the removal of duplicates, the 1,455 new cases brings Kentucky’s COVID-19 case total to 258,517.
“Mondays are always lower. Today’s may be lower than normal most likely because of a combination between the long holiday weekend and potentially some communications being down based on the bombing in Nashville,” Gov. Beshear noted.
Monday’s positivity rate was 7.97%.
Gov. Beshear also reported eight new coronavirus-related deaths, bringing Kentucky’s coronavirus-related death total to 2,563.
As of Monday, 1,552 Kentuckians are hospitalized for coronavirus-related reasons, 411 of which are in the ICU and 217 of which are on a ventilator.
